



Bull City Squat Challenge Raises $8015 for Charity in its 5th Year

The 5th Annual Bull City Squat Challenge was held this past Saturday at The Choice Performance Center in Durham. This year’s event featured 5 new participants (a total of 14), and recorded 871 barbell squat reps with weights varying from 95lb-225lb. With 123 total donations, this year’s event raised a BCSC record breaking $8015.00 ($2015 over the goal)! This year’s beneficiaries are the ASPCA and the SECU Family House of Chapel Hill.

The Bull City Squat Challenge has raised over $32,000 for local and national charities since 2015.
The 2020 Bull City Squat Challenge participants were: Katie Starr, David McLaughlin, Kathy Wood, Tyrone Irby, Paola Gehrig, Kevin Edwards, Kirsten Overdahl, Dan Lehman, Samantha Lehman, George Linney, Lisa Criscione Schreiber, Rodney Shepard, Jessica McLaughlin, and Katherine Tucker.

Of the 871 squats the women took the top prize with 523, while the men managed 348. Participants ages ranged from 27-63 years old.

This year’s event was sponsored by Ponysaurus Brewing, Moe’s Original BBQ Joint, CEP Compression, Hillsborough Running Club, Together We Stand NC, and George Linney Mortgage.
