2023 MAUD 2.23- STAND UP TO RACISM

MAUD 2023 FRONT.png

It’s been almost 3 years since 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery laced up his running shoes and left his mother’s home in New Brunswick, Georgia never to return again.

Once the horrific and dehumanizing details surrounding his murder were finally revealed, millions of people of all races found themselves reckoning with this modern-day lynching. One hundred and fifty years, post Jim Crow, a young Black man, was chased, hunted, and killed in broad daylight because of the color of his skin.

We started Together We Stand in June 2020 as an antidote to the increasing and divisive acts of cowardice, fear, and ignorance. What originally began as a memorial run has evolved into multiple opportunities for unity and compassionate conversations-- shining a spotlight on how racism and hate effects and erodes all our lives.

Since February 2021, Together We Stand NC events, including Courageous Conversations and social awareness runs, have raised over $38,000 for North Carolina charities including Running Works, Building Hope, Girls on the Run of the Triangle, Off-Road Outreach, Equality NC, and Bikes for Kids. Each TWS event is geared to creating authentic conversations in safe spaces.

Together We Stand NC will again host more than a dozen Maud 2.23 events across North Carolina from February 18-25, 2023.  The goal is to call out racism and injustice and to unite toward hope in the future.

We call on you to stand with us. Will you accept?

Maud 2.23: Stand Up to Racism begins Saturday February 18, 2023.

TWS is honored to welcome back HOKA as our official running shoe partner. HOKA recognizes the importance of “embracing challenges with determined optimism--because we know better is out there in all of us.”

REGISTRATION BEGINS JANUARY 1. 2023
