On February 23, 2020, 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery was killed in New Brunswick, Georgia. Twenty months later, starting on October 18, 2021, jury selection will begin for the case in Glynn County Superior Court in Georgia. The accused killers Travis McMichael, 35; his father, Gregory McMichael, 65; and William “Roddie” Bryan, 51, are facing charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and criminal attempt to commit a felony. All are currently in jail without bond.
It took over a year, but all three were indicted in April 2021 by a federal grand jury in the southern District of Georgia and charged with hate crimes and the attempted kidnapping of Arbery. On November 24, 2021, all three were found guilty of felony murder.
